The short version
Beanstalk is a record-keeping app. It is not a bank and moves no money. What you owe your kids is between you and your kids — we just keep the tally. Pay $9.99 once and it's yours.
Beanstalk is a personal record-keeping tool for tracking money a parent has promised a child. It is not a bank, a money transmitter, a payment service, a deposit account, or a financial product of any kind. No funds are held, transferred, invested, or insured. Balances shown in the app are a record of an informal arrangement within your household and carry no legal or monetary force of their own.
"Interest" in Beanstalk is a number you choose to apply to that record. It is not a rate of return, not a security, and not an investment. Any amount you choose to actually pay your child is entirely your decision.
Beanstalk provides projections and estimates for illustration. They are arithmetic, not advice, and are not a recommendation about how to manage your money or teach your children about it.
Beanstalk is free to download and includes a 14-day free trial with all features. After the trial, unlocking costs a one-time $9.99 in-app purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew. The purchase covers your household, including a co-parent you invite and, through Apple Family Sharing, your family group.
When the trial ends, Beanstalk becomes read-only. Your data remains fully visible and exportable; you simply cannot add or edit entries, and automatic postings pause, until you unlock. We will not delete, hide, or withhold your data.
Purchases are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's terms. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.
Your data is yours. It lives on your device and in your own iCloud. See our Privacy Policy. You can export a full CSV at any time. Because we never receive your data, we cannot recover it for you — if you delete the app and its iCloud data, it is gone.
We aim to keep Beanstalk working and to fix problems, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Syncing depends on Apple's iCloud service, which is outside our control.
Beanstalk is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To that same extent, our total liability for any claim relating to Beanstalk is limited to the amount you actually paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any disagreement between you and your child about what is owed.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; where that is so, the limitations apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date before they take effect in a released version.
